Question: I set up Web2Disk to download one or more sites daily, but the status of this task reads “The scheduled task did not run because no user account password was entered”…how do I fix this?

Answer: Windows XP will not allow you to run a scheduled task under an account with no password. There are two solutions to this problem. The first is to assign the account in question a password. The second is to change the Windows security settings to disable this security feature as follows:

For Windows XP Profession users: Go to Start/Administrative Tools/’Local Security Policy/Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console logon only. This is enabled by default, disable it.

For Windows XP Home users: Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
Change the key named ‘limitblankpassworduse’ (Type: REG_DWORD) to 0 (disabled) or 1 (enabled).
