How-To: Configure Rank Reporter to Monitor Google Caffeine Search Rank
A quick guide to adding Google Caffeine support to Rank Reporter.
Google recently announced a major internal change to its search engine technology. The
update, code named "Google caffeine" is now available as a public beta. To find
out how your website ranks with their new search engine technology, you can configure Rank Reporter
in 3 easy steps!
Step 1: Open the Search Engine Editor
Run Rank Reporter and select "Settings | Search Engine Editor" from the main menu bar.
Step 2: Load and Copy the Current Google Template
Caffeine returns the results in the same format as the main Google search engine,
so starting with the current Google template is a good start. Select "Google" from
the list of Existing Templates, and then click the "Copy" button.
Step 3: Customize the Template for Caffeine
Change the name of this new template from "Google (Copy)" to "Google Caffeine".
Then change the Query URL from:
http://www2.sandbox.google.com/search?q=#QUERY#&btnG=Search&num=10&start=#LASTRESULT#
Then click the "Save" button.
You're done! Rank Reporter is now ready to send queries to the Caffeine sandbox. Remember
to update your projects to include Google Caffeine (by default, it will be unselected).
